February 2009
21 years in Orthodontics in the 21st Century. Remembering what my practice was like and the technology back in 1988 seemed so long ago. The advances we have seen today have not only made orthodontics more comfortable, but also more efficient as well.I have truly enjoyed watching my patients come and go, grow up, go to college, get married and even have their children begin to see me as patients! It is still the most satisfying and exciting for me to see the reaction of all the patients when I remove their braces - they lighten up and smile.
I still continue to support the community and schools as I think it is especially important in such difficult economic times as these. The schools and community activities have seen major budget cuts and as a 21 year resident of San Ramon and a father, I see it as my duty to help. We also continue to have events for the Food Bank, The Smile Train, Make-A-Wish and the American Cancer Society.
As always, I want to thank all of my referring doctors who put their trust in me and my team. It is an honor to work with so many skilled doctors. I also want to thank all of my patients for allowing me to be of service to them and continue to do what I love.
I recently took my daughter on a Disney vacation and was amazed at the level of customer service and how well everyone treated my family. It was inspiring. I was so impressed; I obtained a book called "Creating Magic". This book is written by the man who was in charge of Walt Disney World for 11 years. He documents the lessons he learned in customer service over the years; many of which are just as important to orthodontics as to Mickey Mouse.
For this reason, as one of the main goals for the office this year, I have decided to begin to implement some of these principles and to strive to excel in customer service in every way, every day. I appreciate all the letters and positive feedback we have received on how great we do but I know we can do better! I am committed to getting back to basics and making sure that all patients and their families are happy with their experience here and speak about our office with excitement and satisfaction.
Here is to an upbeat and improved 2009 for blessed health and happiness.
Respectfully,
Sandy Ira Allan Bigman, DDS, MSD
